Marching for the Emerald Isle

3/16/2016

A myriad of green and orange flowed through the streets of Toronto this past Sunday as the 29th St. Patrick's Day Parade kicked off Downtown. Many notable figures participated in the parade, including Mayor John Tory accompanied by no less than Ray Bassett, Ireland's ambassador to Canada, Bahamas and Jamaica. Another notable figure some of you may have recognized was none other than Carlton Promotions very own Bob Smith.

Sporting a St. Patrick's Day Toque and Jacket, both Canadaian-Union made for some of our clients, Bob helped celebrate Irish Heritage here in Toronto. Even with the chill in the air, smiles and cheers were heard all around as thousands came out to watch the parade. Now that St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, Thursday, March 17, 2016, maybe we'll all get a taste of that famous luck of the Irish. SLAINTE!

A first for Robert Smith, who is of Irish decent, is his participation in the upcoming Toronto St. Patrick's Day Parade. We are very excited and honored to be involved in this long-standing Toronto tradition.

Simultaneously, those in Ireland will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising - a small uprising which ultimately set in motion the events which led to Irish independence.
We hope to honor this commemorative moment and support Irish heritage throughout the city. If you're able to do so this weekend, drop by the parade and show off your green side Sunday, March 13, 2016. The parade will begin at Bloor and St. George at 8:00 a.m. and continue along Bloor Street, down Yonge and finish on Queen Street at Nathan Philips Square. It's expected to take between one and one and a half hours.

In 1998, Robert Smith christened the birth of his company - Carlton Promotions. Drawing on his hometown roots, he designed the logo to capture his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

CUPE 79 Rally at Nathan Phillips Square

Being unionized ourselves, we wanted to show our very good clients over at CUPE 79 that we take the cause of Unions to heart. Unions exist to create equality and fairness in the workplace; ideals that Carlton Promotions strongly believes in. On February 25th, we joined our brothers and sisters of CUPE 79 for their Brown Bag Rally in front of city hall. The turn out was very impressive as many other Unions and even politicians showed up to lend their support. Here are some of the memories from the day we weren't monkeying around!
